Vicrila was founded in 1890 in Bilbao, North West Spain.
In 1970 ARC International made an investment in Vicrila and production turned in ernest to the production of glass tableware.
In 1980 Vicrila became a wholly owned subsidiary of the ARC group with emphasis on production of tempered (toughened) glassware.
Being part of the ARC Group allowed Vicrila to make significant investments in the most modern glass manufacturing technology. Vicrila became the particular division in ARC to specialise in tempered glassware such as Princessa and Cabernet and it is fair to say they have perfected the art of tempered glassware better than almost any other glass manufacturer in the world.
In 2009 ARC sold to a management buyout along with help from the Spanish government.
Vicrila continues to specialise in the production of tempered glassware along with blown and drawn glassware for worldwide distribution to the hospitality industry under the name Hostelvia by Vicrila.
